Description
Cliffe Tavern Hotel is a hotel that dates from the 18th century to the end of the 19th century. The building features weatherboarding on the front, while the rear ranges are made of painted brick. It has a slate and plain tiled roof. The main range is three stories tall, with chimney stacks located to the left, center, and rear right. The windows are arranged irregularly, with four wooden casements on the first and second floors and three on the ground floor. There is a six-panel door located to the center left, which has a bracketed hood above it. The left side of the building is rendered and has a half-glazed door set in a pilaster surround. To the right, there is a recessed two-story wing with a double-pitched hipped roof and an outshot. The hotel is connected to Cliffe House on the left by a weatherboarded bridge on the second floor. Originally, the hotel was a series of outbuildings associated with Cliffe House. It is included for its group value.
