Description
Nos 14 and 16 on Market Street are two similar houses built in yellow brick and dating from the early Victorian period. Both are two storeys tall. No 14 features red rubbed brick arches above the windows, which include two sashes with glazing bars that create 12 squares in the upper windows and 16 squares in the lower. The shop front has been altered around the turn of the 20th century and includes three pilasters with moulded caps and a plinth, with a window divided into two squares and a door with a flush central panel and a glazed upper square. No 16 also has rubbed brick arches above the sashes, but the glazing bars are missing. Its shop front is modern and extends into Nos 18 and 20. These buildings, along with Nos 4 to 24 (even) and the Milk Alley Flat with Nos 2 and 4 Potter Street, form a group.
