Description
No 1 on Potter Street is a building constructed in two sections during the 18th century, with the southern section likely built later than the northern. The southern section faces Market Street and is positioned at the top of it. This part is two storeys high with an attic, featuring four windows and three dormers. The front is finished in stucco and has a parapet. It has a steeply pitched hipped roof covered with tiles. An entablature above the ground floor is supported by pilasters that flank both the front and the windows. The first floor retains its glazing bars.
The northern section has a taller facade but is also two storeys high with three windows. It is made of red brick and has a moulded stone cornice and a brick parapet. However, the glazing bars are missing in this section. The doorway features fluted pilasters, a moulded frieze, a projecting cornice, a semi-circular fanlight, and a six-panel fielded door.
Nos 1 to 9 (odd) on Potter Street are recognized as a group.
