Description

This is a group of medieval buildings of timber frame construction, largely refaced with red brick in the 19th century. Number 3, dating to around 1470, is a Hall House of three storeys and three bays. The hall bays have been floored over at the first floor level. The roof is an elaborate example with side purlins and wind braces. Numbers 5 and 7 form a single house, dating to around 1600, and are also of three storeys, with four bays under two spans. The rear elevation is original, and the roof is similar to that of Number 3. The building contains a large Jacobean wall painting. Numbers 3 to 7, together with Three Kings Yard (numbers 1 to 5), the pump and railings, the remains of a chapel, and numbers 19 to 23 form a group with numbers 8 and 10 High Street.
