Description
This listing describes a group of three headstones and a barrel chest tomb located about 8 meters north of the Church of St. Margaret. The headstones date from the early 18th century. The first headstone, for Sarah, stands about 2 feet high and features crude details including scrolls, a shield, a skull, and festooned sides. The second headstone is for Susanna Watson, who died in 1724, and is about 3 feet high. It has a scrolled cornice head adorned with crossed bones, an hourglass, a scythe, a bell, a book, a candle, and two skulls. The third headstone is for Stephen Manson, who died in 1728, and measures about 2½ feet high, featuring a scrolled and draped head along with a skull and bones. The barrel chest tomb, also from the early 18th century, has an illegible inscription and features fielded end panels with carved skull and bones.
