Description

Mendham Cottage and The Farthing are a pair of cottages, originally dating to the late 17th century, but altered in the 19th century. They are constructed of red brick with an old tiled roof, featuring two hipped dormers and two curved gable ends. The cottages have two storeys, a basement, and attics. The windows are mostly altered, although an original sash window remains on the ground floor of Mendham Cottage (No. 8). The Farthing (No. 9) has a later, inserted Neo-Georgian bow window. Simple doorcases with narrow hoods shelter the entrances. A six-panelled door is set within the entrance to No. 9, leading to stone steps from the street. Number 8, along with numbers 10 to 12, form a notable group.
