Description

The range of five oasthouses and two outbuildings at Mates Farm dates from the mid-19th century. The two outbuildings are two storeys high, constructed of red brick with some grey headers, and feature a hipped slate roof. Originally, there were four circular oasts attached to these buildings, but only two of them retain their bases, along with one square oast. The oasts are built of buff brick, two of which are tarred, and they have tiled roofs that still hold their cowls and fantails.
