Description
The Limes is an L-shaped house dating from the 15th and 18th centuries, with an 18th-century exterior surrounding a late medieval open hall. The building is two storeys tall, constructed of red brick that is largely covered with ivy, and features a tiled roof with a hipped south wing. The south wing has five sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor. A wide porch with a pediment above contains a doorway flanked by sidelights, a low elliptical fanlight, and a door made of six moulded panels. Inside, there is a notable drawing room from around 1770, which includes a fireplace adorned with swags, fluted columns, cherubs, and a moulded ceiling. The original roof of the medieval open hall remains intact above this room, featuring three crownposts, smoke-blackened rafters, and a doorcase with spandrels.
