Description
The eastern part of No. 109, located on Central Parade in Herne Bay, is a terrace originally known as Telford Terrace, built around 1830. This three-storey building features a semi-basement and is finished in stucco, with the ground floor having a rusticated appearance. Each section of the terrace has three windows and curved fronts. Above the second floor, there is a cornice and parapet, with a string course situated above the ground floor. The windows above the ground floor are framed with moulded architrave surrounds, and those on the first floor have cornices above, alternating with consoles or paterae friezes. The glazing bars are intact. The doorways are accessed by six steps with a handrail and are adorned with Doric pilasters, projecting cornices, rectangular fanlights, and doors featuring five fielded panels. Notably, No. 104 has an iron balcony with an Anthemion motif added on the first floor, while Nos. 106, 107, and 109 have an extra storey, and No. 109 includes a glazed verandah on the ground floor with an iron balcony above. Nos. 101 to 108 and the Dolphin hotel form a cohesive group.
