Description

The drinking fountain, built between 1887 and 1888, is located on Central Parade in Herne Bay. It is made of Portland stone and has a square shape topped with a crown supported by the flippers of four dolphins. The fountain features four segmental pediments and a cornice, along with four round-headed panels and scrolled buttresses. It stands on a plinth with three steps. On the south side, there is a stone statue of a lady dressed in Grecian attire. This drinking fountain was presented to Herne Bay as a Jubilee Memorial of Queen Victoria's reign by Major Horatio D. Davies, Sheriff of London and Middlesex, in 1887-1888.
