Description
The Weavers is a 17th-century timber-framed house located at 1 to 3 St Peter's Street, dating back to 1500. This building served as one of the workshops for Huguenot weavers. It has been restored, with the timbering renewed and the infilling now covered in roughcast. The structure features two storeys and an attic, with three gables and three windows on the street front, where the first floor overhangs on the protruding ends of the floor joists. The street-facing side has modern shop fronts. The river elevation displays five gables and five restored mullioned and transomed bays with leaded lights. Inside, there is a renewed king post and a restored staircase, along with a wrought iron fire grate dated 1641. Nos 1 to 10 St Peter's Street form a group.
