Description

No. 20 Best Lane is part of a 15th-century range of buildings that includes numbers 18 and 19, and was altered in the 18th century. It is a two-storey building with a gable. The ground floor is constructed of painted brick, while the upper floors are timber-framed with plaster infill. The roof is covered in old tiles, with a brick stack. Curved braces and an overhang are visible. There is one casement window on the upper floors. The ground floor has an 18th-century sash window with intact glazing bars set within a wooden architrave. A central doorcase features a wooden architrave, a rectangular fanlight, and a two-panelled door. The rear elevation has a projecting gable, now rendered with cement and featuring sliding sash windows.

Numbers 16A to 20 (consecutively), numbers 22 and 23 form a group.
