Description
No. 55 St Peter's Street is a 16th-century timber-framed building that was refaced in the later 18th century. It has two storeys and a gabled roof. The gable is plastered, while the rest of the building is painted brick with a tiled roof. The gable features a casement window, and there is a three-light bay window on the first floor. The shop front is a later addition. The bressumer beneath the gable has been converted into a modillion cornice during the 18th century. This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 49 to 60 (consecutive), the Methodist Church, and the forecourt to the Methodist Church.
