Description

Forstal Farmhouse is a 16th-century timber-framed house designed in the Wealden style, located on the southwest side of Appledore Road. The building has two storeys, featuring a recessed centre flanked by two projecting crosswings, which have first floors that overhang at the ends supported by protruding floor joists. The first floor includes curved braces, and the house has a steeply pitched tiled roof that slopes down to a single storey at the rear, where there is a massive brick stack. The farmhouse displays some mullioned casement windows and remnants of original window openings, along with a simple doorcase. The rear elevation is finished with tile hanging. Forstal Farmhouse and the Oasthouse are part of a group.
