Description

Gibbet Oak Farmhouse dates to 1715 and takes its name from the gibbet oak, which remains in the grounds. The house has a timber-frame core, but it is flanked by two later wings. The front elevation dates to the mid-19th century and is built of red brick with grey brick headers. It features a central gable with bargeboards, a tiled roof, three sash windows with intact glazing bars, and a hipped weather porch. The left side elevation has three hips, with the central portion displaying original timber framing and a single original window space; the remaining windows are casements. A carved wooden bracket is also present. The rear elevation is two-storey, with a brick ground floor and a tile-hung first floor, along with three sash windows and a dormer. The right side elevation is brick with a tile-hung first floor, and timber-framed gables to each portion. The lounge features chamfered beams.
