Description
The White Horse is a public house that dates from the 15th and 18th centuries. It features a timber frame and painted brick construction with a plain tile roof. The front facing the Square has two storeys, with a painted brick ground floor and exposed timber framing on the first floor. To the right, there is a hipped cross-wing with a garret. The building has an irregular arrangement of three windows, which are 19th-century glazing bar sashes. The central entrance is a 20th-century door, glazed and set within a moulded surround topped with a flat hood on brackets.
The south front, dating from the 18th century, also has two storeys and sits on a plinth with a modillion eaves cornice beneath a hipped roof. There is one window on each floor at the extreme right, featuring wooden casements with gauged heads, and a blocked window opening to the left on the ground floor. A 20th-century glazed door in a moulded surround with a flat hood on brackets is located at the extreme left.
