Description
The Elephant House, now a residential property, dates from the late 18th century and was altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with a tiled roof and features two storeys and attics, including two gabled dormers and end stacks on both the left and right sides. The building has two stone mullioned windows and a boarded door located in a gabled porch on the right. There are also two stone arches with ashlar and keyed detailing that are now blocked; these were originally entrances for the elephants that were kept on the estate around 1800.
