Description
St Mary's Church of England Primary School - Old Schoolmaster's House is a schoolmaster's house that has been converted into classrooms. It was built in the mid-19th century and features red brick with rendered quoins and a plain tile roof. The building has a cruciform plan and consists of one storey with garrets. Notable architectural details include a dog tooth cornice, kneelered parapet gables, and a chimney on the left side.
The central projecting gable has a moulded triple lancet window with a transom, a semi-circular relieving arch, and a quatrefoil above. The left wing features a pair of lancet windows with a transom, while the right wing has four steps leading up to a double plank door with ornate hinges set in arched rendered surrounds. The house is possibly designed by H. Blandford and dates from 1861-1862.
