Description

Oxenturn House is a mid-19th century house, originally listed as Wye High School. It is rendered with a slate roof. The house stands on a plinth, with quoins and modillion bracketed eaves to the hipped roof, which features two segmentally pedimented dormers and a central stack. The front has two sashes on each floor, each with enriched pilastered surrounds, bracketed cills, and cornices resting on festooned lion-head brackets. A central door has two round-headed panels within a semi-circular surround, and is accessed via a large Doric porch with a modillion cornice and parapet. A bay window is present on the right return (garden front). The left return has a ground floor conservatory, and a projecting rear wing incorporates glazing bar sashes and a pierced parapet with ball finials.
