Description

James Wyllie House is a building that has been converted from a house to offices. It was originally built in the early 19th century and extended in the late 19th century. The structure is made of red brick with some rendered details and features red brick and tile hanging in its extensions. It has a plain tiled roof and consists of two storeys and an attic above a basement. The roof is hipped with a flat-roofed dormer and has stacks at the rear.

On the façade, there is a tripartite glazing bar sash window on the left and a single glazing bar sash window on the right, both set back in rendered surrounds. The ground floor features a projecting tripartite glazing bar sash window to the left and another below it in the basement. To the right, there is a panelled door topped with a semi-circular fanlight, framed by a large projecting pilastered surround with a cornice above, and accessed by a flight of five steps.

On the right side, there is a later 19th-century wing that is two storeys high, gabled, and jettied, with tripartite sash windows on each floor. The left side has a rectangular section with a tripartite glazing bar sash ensemble on the first and ground floors, along with an illegible plaque in the upper right corner. Inside, there is a geometric staircase with a wreathed handrail.
