Description

The drinking fountain and horse trough, built in 1897, features a column designed with a white stone cap that has Gothic mouldings, culminating in a crown at the top. This is supported by a short shaft made of polished pink granite, which sits on an octagonal stone base that spreads out through a series of mouldings, resting on an octagonal sandstone foot. On one side of the base, there is a basin, while the other side has a wide rectangular trough. The fountain is inscribed with Gothic lettering on a band at the capital, stating, "In commemoration of the sixtieth year of the reign of Queen Victoria."
