Description

Rose Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with later alterations in the late 18th century. It is timber-framed and was refronted with painted brick walls, covered by a slate roof. The house is two storeys high with two windows. The windows have cambered openings and casements. The front doorway is characterised by thin classical detailing, including a pediment, a projecting lower cornice on the sides, a frieze, architrave, fluted pilasters, panelled reveals, and a half-glazed door. A plain service door is located on the east side. The eaves are moulded and run along a low-pitched roof which is tiled at the rear and has a cat slide. Inside, remnants of the original timber frame, old beams, and floorboards remain, along with a Georgian fireplace.
