Description
The Church of St Peter is a parish church built in 1887 by Sir Thomas Jackson, with the tower completed in 1894. The church features walls made of knapped flint with Bath stone dressings, a plinth, and stepped buttresses, topped with a tile roof. It is designed in the Perpendicular style, consisting of an aisleless nave and chancel, a north chapel, a south porch, and a west tower. On the south side, the arrangement of coupled windows is complemented by two three-light windows, while the east window has five lights with varied tracery. The south porch includes a timber-framed upper section with a cusped bargeboard. The tower is simple, featuring bands and an octagonal stair turret on the southeast side that rises above the crenellated parapet. The bell stage has deep coupled traceried openings set within rectangular frames. Inside, the church has Victorian features, including an octagonal panelled pulpit, a brass eagle lectern, and an octagonal font located within the tower.
