Description
Cherrycroft is a pair of cottages, now combined into a single dwelling, dating largely to the 17th century, with substantial alterations and an enclosure in the 18th century. The house has a timber-frame core, now largely concealed behind a brick facade with some blue headers, and an old plain tile roof. The house is positioned with its end facing the road, and is two storeys high with five bays. The outer bays are of 18th-century origin, and there is a single-storey 19th-century addition to the rear, creating an outshot porch at the back of the house. There are small, two-light casement windows in all but the bay at the road end. Two cross windows are located on the first floor. A large, multiflued stack is situated at the road end of the central section, and another stack on the far gable. The road-facing end is tile-hung, featuring a round-headed window within a square frame on the ground floor, and a two-light casement above. On the garden side, there are three-light casement windows in older openings, along with a Winchester Insurance Fire Plaque.
