Description
The Dairy, located 80 metres northwest of Cranbury House, is a late 18th-century building designed by G Dance Junior and restored in 1978. It is constructed of yellow brick with Portland stone dressings and has rendered walls topped with a lead roof. The structure is single-storey and consists of two bays, with quadrant colonnades on each side that extend to brick walls, creating semicircular courtyards. The ends feature a stone plinth and are gently bowed in header bond, with a bowed 12-pane sash window that has a string course below the sill and above a gauged brick arch, which is topped with a stone cornice. Each side quadrant colonnade includes two Doric columns and pilasters at each end, supporting a heavy plain entablature. Inside, there is a marble shelf all around and a domed ceiling supported by limestone pilasters.
