Description

The Old Sun is a house dating from the late 18th century with additions made in the early 20th century. It is constructed of brick with a tile roof. The house is two storeys and attic with a two-storey rear wing and a single-storey attic wing.

The original north front presents a symmetrical facade of three windows. The building has been extended to the east with three irregularly placed upper-floor windows. The brick walls are painted and include a plinth and a band above the first floor. The windows are sash windows; the ground floor of the original part has three-light windows, while the later section has smaller windows arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration within a wide, angled bay. The old part of the roof has two flat-roofed dormers, and the later section has dormers resembling half-windows. A late 19th-century classical doorcase, featuring a pediment and brackets, provides access to a five-panelled door with a single glazed panel at the top. The rear wing, on the west side, has timber framing with painted brick infill.
