Description

Austin House comprises an asymmetrical pair of houses dating from the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of stucco with a slate roof. They are two storeys high with four upper windows. Architectural details include a plinth, a moulded band at first floor level, eaved architraves to the upper openings, and deep moulded eaves. The windows are sash windows in reveals with cambered tops; the ground floor features two angular bays with moulded cornices. There are coupled doorways with rusticated arches set on pilasters. A flint boundary wall runs between numbers 50 and 52, incorporating flush red brick at the top, base, band, and along the vertical elements with quoins. The building is included on the list for its group value.
