Description

Farmhouse, now a private residence, dating from the early 18th century with alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The farmhouse is constructed of chequer-work brick with a slate roof. It has three bays and two storeys with an attic, and a cellar. There is an outshot to the rear, with a 19th-century wing extending to the rear on the left, and a 20th-century single-storey porch built of older materials on the left end. A central 19th-century cambered, pent-roofed porch provides access via a six-panel double door. A plinth runs along the front of the original house, and there is a first-floor string. The original windows are tripartite sashes with rubbed brick heads. A 19th-century 12-pane sash window is above the porch. A boxed timber eaves gutter and two 19th-century flat-roofed two-light dormers are present. A 20th-century parapeted porch fronts a four-panel door and round fanlight at the left end. Inside, a full-height early 18th-century oak staircase features a moulded handrail, turned balusters and square-sectioned newels. Contemporary doors, beams, cupboards, and a large fireplace with a smoking chamber above are found in a room to the right.
