Description

Forton Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century, with 20th-century extensions. It has a tile roof. The symmetrical front (facing south-east) has two storeys and four windows. A hipped roof extends to a catslide over a 20th-century rear outshot. The front wall is of Flemish bond brickwork, featuring a vertical blue diaper pattern, with two buttresses. The ground floor openings are cambered. The south-west end wall incorporates flint panels and altered details, while the north-east end wall shows exposed brick nogging within timber framing in its upper part. Leaded casement windows are present. A half-glazed door is set within an open gabled porch supported by tree-post supports.
