Description
Sirrah Cottage and the adjacent cottages at Westhay are a row of buildings dating from the early 18th century, with No. 9 being from the early 19th century. They feature minor 20th-century alterations. The cottages are constructed of brick and thatch, standing one storey high with an attic, and have a total of seven windows above eight. The roofs are half-hipped, with a catslide at the rear and eyebrow dormers of various shapes. No. 7 has red brick walls laid in Flemish bond, with a flush blue band at the first floor, while the other cottages have brick walls with some flint panels, all of which are now painted. The ground floor openings are cambered, and there is a cement plinth at Nos. 9 and 11. The windows are casements. No. 7 has a side door, No. 9 features a 20th-century brick porch with a thatched roof, and No. 11 has plain doorways; this cottage was once a shop and off-licence.
