Description
Rosemary Cottage is a house with a zig-zag shape, dating from the late 18th century to the early 20th century, and is made up of at least two previous dwellings. It features a mix of wall finishes and has a tile roof. The rear section, which is two storeys high and has four upper windows, was likely two cottages and has flint walls with brick dressings, some of which are partly rendered. It has a 20th-century tile roof, 20th-century casements, and two old beams inside. The part of the building facing the roadway, mostly from the early 20th century, is also two storeys high with two windows, hipped half-dormers, a tile-hung first floor, and a rendered ground floor. This ground floor extends as a single-storey wing on the west side and includes casements, one old door, and another door with a Victorian gabled shallow porch. The connecting unit is made of painted brickwork and features a part-catslide roof, some cambered openings, and 20th-century casements. This building has undergone many alterations and is the only one in a significant group that retains a tile roof, following the destruction of its previous thatched roof by fire. It is included for its group value.
