Description
Dengrid is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill, and has a thatched roof. The cottage has two bays from the 17th century at the road end, with a taller bay added in the 18th century and an outshot at the far end. The road-facing end includes a pair of 19th-century four-pane casements and an 18th-century two-light casement. The south side has a 20th-century door at the road end of the 17th-century section, which is sheltered by a thatched hood supported by posts. In the road-facing bay, there is a tall two-light casement, while the other bays feature a 19th-century three-light casement with a similar one above it under the eaves, and a two-light casement in the far bay. Above the end bays, there is a two-light casement in an eyebrow dormer. The roof has a higher ridge over the road end bay, with a ridge piece, and is half-hipped at the road end while sweeping down at the far end. There is a ridge stack where the ridge rises and another stack on the road end behind the ridge. The cottage forms a pair with No 2, separated by a lawn and facing the churchyard.
