Description

Cobbler's Cottage, along with the adjoining Shoetree Cottage, is a pair of late 18th-century houses situated on the High Street in Monxton. Originally listed as a pair of cottages adjacent to the Black Swan public house, they were formerly located on Andover Road in Hascosay. The houses are built of horizontal bands of flint, with brick quoins, bands, cambered arches, and a painted plinth. They feature a thatched roof, half-hipped at the west end, and an exposed frame within the upper gable, which also includes eyebrow dormers. The front has one storey and attic, with two windows above two windows. Casement windows are present throughout, and there are two plain doorways.
