Description

Hutchens Cottages are two adjoining houses that have been combined into one dwelling. They date from the late 18th century and early 19th century. The exterior features rendered walls and a slate roof. Originally designed as a symmetrical two-storey house with three windows on the east front, the building was later extended northwards to the road with an additional wide bay, which forms the second dwelling. This extension includes a single-storey rear addition. The building has a plain roof and plain walls, with an eaves fascia, a first-floor band, and a plinth. The windows are sash types set in reveals, and there is a six-panelled door with a hood supported by brackets, along with half-glazed rear doors. The gable facing the road has flint walls arranged in horizontal panels, with brickwork above in Flemish bond featuring blue headers.
