Description

Forton Farmhouse is a house dating from the 18th century, with an early 19th-century front. It is constructed of stucco, slate, and tile. The wide front, facing southeast, features two storeys with five windows above three. The roof is low-pitched and covered with slate. The walls are plain, with an eaves fillet, a plinth, and shallow end pilasters topped with moulded caps. The windows are sashes set in exposed frames. There is a solid porch that includes Tuscan details, such as a low projection, a blocking course, a cornice, a frieze, pilasters with moulded caps, a plinth, small round-headed side windows, and a six-panelled door. At the rear of the house, there are projections with tile roofs, and the northeast gable displays exposed timber-framing in its upper part, indicating an earlier origin.
