Description

Shilling Cottage is a house, originally two dwellings, dating to the 17th century with later alterations in the late 18th century and restoration in the 20th century. It is timber-framed with a tile roof. The north front, facing the road, is of two storeys and has irregular window placement. The roof is half-hipped and features a half-dormer. The timber frame is exposed, with infill of brickwork and bands of flint and brick. A section of the ground floor is flint with brick dressings. Casement windows are present. A 20th-century brick porch with a tiled hipped roof has been added. The west end of the building follows the curve of the roadway and has exposed timber framing in its upper portion.
