Description
Manor Farmhouse is a house dating from 1722, though it has earlier origins. It is constructed of brick and slate and features a nearly symmetrical front (west) with two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, comprising three windows. The steep roof, originally thatched, now has two 20th-century flat-roofed dormers. The front is painted brick in Flemish bond, with a moulded band at the first floor, cambered openings, and a plinth. The windows are casements. A mid-19th century brick porch with a Gothic arch leads to an old wide doorway that contains a four-panelled door, with two of the panels being glazed.
The east elevation is made of red brick in Flemish bond with blue headers, featuring a plain first floor band and a high plinth, along with casement windows. There is a brick gabled porch and a porch added in 1973 for a room used as the farm office. Three bricks on the building are inscribed with "TP1722," "RAL 1722," and "JVA." Inside, early 18th-century features include a staircase (with later rails), dado panelling in the hall, and plain four-panelled doors in simple architraves. A massive oval-arched chimney breast remains as a remnant of the earlier timber-framed house.
