Description
The Peat Spade Public House is a public house built around 1880. It is constructed of red brick, featuring a continuous first-floor band of grey and red brick stripes, along with flint diaper and cruciform decoration. The building has tiled gabled roofs with overhanging eaves, projecting rafters, bargeboards, cresting, tall brick chimney stacks, and a dormer on the right-hand return. It is two storeys high, with an attic and cellar, and has an asymmetrical design with three bays, where the outer bays project. There is a gabled entrance porch with bargeboards that project from the angle of the central and right-hand bay, leading to a pointed arch entrance. The windows are three-light flat-arched casements that retain their original cast iron latticed glazing, and the right-hand return features similar glazing. The interior is believed to retain original features.
