Description

The Old Post Office Cottage is a cottage that was originally a pair of homes and a post office. It has a core from the 17th century and was rebuilt in the 18th century in two phases. The structure features a timber frame encased in brick and has a thatched roof. The 17th-century core is rebuilt to 1½ storeys and consists of three bays, with the left bay being taller and larger. There is a planked door in the left bay with a segmental head and a buttress to its left. The left bay also has a three-light segmental casement window, while the other bay contains either a two or three-light casement window. Additionally, there is a large two-light casement window in an eyebrow dormer and an 18th-century three-light casement in the left bay. The roof is hipped, featuring a ridge piece and a stack located to the left of center, with the ridge and eaves being higher on the left side.
