Description
The Old Rectory is a house that dates from the 17th century, with early 19th century features and early 20th century extensions. It is constructed of brick and tile and has a long narrow block with a small wing at the rear and an early 20th century cross-wing at the east end. The front (north) side has one storey and an attic, featuring three windows, while the east end wing has two storeys and two windows. The building has a steep roof with a central large shafted stack and small gabled dormers with cills at eaves level. Part of the timber frame is exposed, and the walling is primarily in Flemish bond with blue headers, with stretchers used in the cross wing. The dormers have old leaded casements, there are two sash windows, and the remaining windows are casements. There are also two and a half glazed doors. The west end features a steeply-roofed outshot from the early 19th century, with a brick-nogged frame. The rear elevation is similar to the front, and the 20th century work maintains the scale and style of the original building.
