Description
Bank Cottage is a large cottage that was formerly two separate dwellings, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is a timber-framed building with substantial 18th-century cladding made of brick and flint, topped with a thatched roof. The front (east) elevation features one storey and an attic, with two windows above one window. The roof is half-hipped, higher on the north side, and includes two inset dormers and one eyebrow dormer.
The south side has flint walls, leading to a recessed center with some exposed timber framing. There is a narrow brickwork projection to the north of the center, which includes a diamond pattern of blue headers. The north side projects as a cross wing, featuring a red brick wall in Flemish bond with blue headers, above a deep plinth with flint panels on either side of a basement window. The gable at the north end has timber framing above flint, with brick quoins and plinth. The south gable is made of flint, and part of the rear wall on the south side has exposed framing. The windows are casements, and there is a plain door located on the west side of the north gable.
