Description

Sarson Farmhouse is a house, now divided into two dwellings, dating from the 18th century, with 20th-century additions. The house is constructed of painted brick, with some render, and has a slate roof. The long, east-facing front is two storeys and an attic, with seven windows above four on the ground floor (one window is blank). A hipped dormer is present at the front, with a catslide roofline to the rear, which incorporates an extension with a double-hipped roof. A large, tapered chimney stack rises from the rear. The brickwork is a combination of header and English bond, with the ground floor partially rendered. A first-floor band is visible, along with rubbed flat arches and one cambered arch, and a plinth. The windows are casements. The original doorway is arched, but it is now accompanied by a 20th-century open porch with a low-pitched slate roof and a glazed door; another half-glazed door is also present, with a window to one side.
