Description
Pear Tree Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th century, with an extension added around 1800 and further restoration and extension in 1973. The building features flint and thatch construction. Originally, it was a late medieval single-bay timber-framed hall with a chimney at the west end and a first floor inserted. The 1800 extension is located to the west, and there is an outshot at the east end. The east end was reconstructed, and a rear addition was made in 1973. The cottage has one storey and an attic, with three windows and a half-hipped roof that includes gables for the dormers, which are adorned with decorative bargeboards. The walls are made of flint with brick quoins, and the west gable features panels while the eastern half has painted brickwork. The windows are casements. There is a half-glazed brick porch from 1973 that has a thatched roof. Inside, the original timber-framed core is still visible.
