Description
The wall to the terrace in front of the garden facade of Hinton Admiral House was built in 1905 by H.E. Peto. It is made of Portland stone and features a retaining wall with a balustraded parapet. At one end, there is a curved stone seat positioned at right angles, while the center of the house has a bowed projecting platform with L-shaped flights of steps on either side. The semicircular seat has a solid stone riser, seat, and back, and is supported by piers at each end with Istrian brackets. The seat rests on a low stone dais that includes a stone table with an octagonal top on a pedestal. The balustrade consists of turned balusters and moulded handrails. Additionally, at three-meter intervals and at all angles associated with the platform and steps, there are square piers topped with urns.
