Description

Avon House is an early 19th century pair of houses, later converted into two shops. It is located on the east side of Salisbury Street, Fordingbridge. The building is constructed of brick, with some parts rendered, and has a slate roof. The right-hand shop has a three-part glazed door in the end bay, a thin twelve-pane sash window alongside, and a sixteen-pane sash window in the other bay. The left-hand shop features a large fifteen-pane C20 shop window in a block doorway, also near the end. Above, on the first floor, are four flush-frame twelve-pane sash windows. Older windows originally had rubbed arches. The building has wide eaves and a low-pitched hipped roof with a central chimney stack.
