Description

Caxton House, now occupied as two shops, dates to the late 18th century. The building is constructed of rendered brick, with the upper front portion slatehung and painted, and is topped by a slate roof. It is three storeys high and has three bays. The central entrance features a glazed door within a panelled doorcase, framed by a reeded architrave with corner blocks and a moulded flat hood. Recessed bow windows have been added in the 20th century on either side. The first floor has three altered eight-pane sash windows, while the second floor retains three original twelve-pane sashes. Chimneys are located at the ends of the building. An external walkway leads to the rear of the building from the left-hand corner. The building is included on the list primarily for its group value.
