Description

This large barn, located 50 meters northeast of the Manor House, dates back to the 15th century and has been altered in the 17th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of rubble stone and flint, which was once rendered, with stone dressings and some brick repairs. The barn features an old plain tile roof and consists of nine bays.

On one side, there are two large hipped midstrey porches, and one end of the barn appears to have been two storeys, possibly for domestic use. The side facing the rest of the complex has porches located in the fourth bay from the left end and the third bay from the right end. There is a slate lean-to situated between the porches. The porches are equipped with large double doors, and the one on the left has weatherboarding with a dovecote situated above the doors.

The barn has corner buttresses, and from the left-hand corner, there is a 10-meter wall with rendered tile coping. The left end of the barn features windows on two levels, including a large, high-set trefoiled head window in the gable. On the far side, there are remains of stone mullion windows and a door. The roof is half-hipped. Inside, the barn has an arched brace roof that is quite plain, with unmoulded collars and two sets of purlins. This barn is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
