Description

The Old Rectory is a private house that was originally built as a rectory in the late 18th century and altered in the 19th century. It is constructed of brick and has a slate roof. The building is L-shaped with a five-bay front and a wing at the rear on the left-hand side. It is two stories tall, with a single-story addition at each end.

The front features central half-glazed double doors set within a closed-in Doric portico supported by two columns and topped with a full entablature. There are plinths on each side, and two 12-pane sash windows under rubbed arches. The additions also have similar sash windows. A raised band runs along the first floor, which has five more sash windows of the same style. The eaves are modillioned timber, and the roof is steeply pitched and hipped, with lead ridges. There are 20th-century dormers on the sides of the roof, and a stack is located on the ridge.
