Description
Nos 15-21 on High Street in Fordingbridge is a large building that originally served as a house and has since been converted into three shops. The core of the structure dates back to the 16th century, with significant remodeling occurring in the early 18th century and shopfronts added in the 20th century. The building features a timber-frame core that has been refronted in brick, with tile-hung gables and a plain tile roof. It is two storeys high and consists of four bays, including a passage bay and an additional half-bay added to the right-hand side, with a wing extending to the rear at the right end.
The front of the building showcases 20th-century shopfronts, which include, from the left, a large 18-pane window and a 12-pane window flanking a recessed opening with two doors beneath a large shop window. There is also a recessed opening with three doors underneath and another large shop window. A fascia runs across the entire front. On the first floor, there are five 16-pane sash windows set in stuccoed reveals, with two located in the right-hand side of the centre bay. The first floor also features stuccoed quoins. A large ridge stack with corner pilasters and a moulded top is present, and to the right is a gable with a low lean-to roof below it, leading to the added bay.
