Description

Primrose Cottage is a cottage dating back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is timber-framed with brick infill, although the front has been refronted and extended in brick, with some areas weatherboarded, and has a thatched roof. The cottage is one-and-a-half storeys high and originally comprised two bays, with an added bay and a weatherboarded store added to the road-facing end. The garden front includes a plank door sheltered by a swept-down thatch hood supported by posts, alongside a one and two-light casement window in the original bays, a two-light casement in the added bay, and a door in the store. Above the door, to one side, is a casement window located within an eyebrow dormer. The roof is hipped at the road end, over the store, and half-hipped at the other end. A ridge stack is located at the road end of the original building.
